Course objectives

Our training has been designed to introduce employers, managers and employees to the world of Manual Handling safety. We’ll outline the hazards you need to look out for, any risks involved, explain how to limit the risks, and show you all the proper techniques.

Course content

  • An introduction to what manual handling can be
  • An overview of your regulations and responsibilities
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • The risks and injuries associated with manual handling
  • How to conduct a basic manual handling risk assessment in the workplace
  • A practical assessment for safe manual handling techniques.

Your expert instructor will assess you throughout your manual handling training and, where practical, will observe you completing relevant manual handling movements.

Course outcomes

By undertaking manual handling training, you’ll be in a better position to meet your legal duties set out in the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992.

Who should take the course?

This course is right for you if you and/or your employees regularly transport or support heavy objects.

And remember, manual handling is for everyone, at one point or another, manual handling plays a part in all business types.

Manual handling assessment

As part of the risk assessment element of the course, we’ll look at the types of tasks that require manual handling in and around your business.

Then, we’ll show you how current techniques can be improved on to ensure the safest working practices are being followed.
